Yeah, this was glorious fun.

Three interweaved storylines in an amazing world with complexity and nuance aplenty. Wallace has really shaped something wonderful here, a novel which takes the tropes of epic fantasy and plays with them.

Unfortunately, the first quarter of the novel is a gigantic infodump. I struggled with it to the extent that I almost gave up, but others told me to persevere, and they were right.

I could continue to pontificate, about things like the portrayal of disability or the fact that Wallace's protaganists are all women, yet the spectre of sexual violence is never once raised as a narrative crutch (for which, fuck yeah!) But I won't.

As I said at the outset, this is glorious fun. Read the book, enjoy the book.
